Greetings all.<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

This post is the tiniest bit rushed, since some unexpected and unpleasant news rendered an already jam-packed week even more jam-packier.<\/em><\/p>\n

What you have here is evidence of a hot night at Botanica which was also (sadly) the last Spindletop.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A few weeks back the mighty Perry Lane<\/strong> said that he\u2019d be bringing things to a close, and honored me by asking if I\u2019d man the decks on the final night.<\/p>\n

Though I was bummed \u2013 Spindletop has been my favorite place to spin this year \u2013 I agreed to helm things for the night and kept things sharp by enlisting the help of my buddies M-Fasis<\/strong> and Joe Cristando<\/strong> (aka DJ Hambone<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

We had a hell of a time getting the somewhat beleaguered equipment to behave itself (the battered mixer was especially problematic) and then when we finally did, the digital recorder started to misbehave. As a result there are segments of the night that either went unrecorded, or were \u2013 thanks to technical difficulties<\/em> \u2013 unacceptable for presentation herein.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve decided to post one set each by the DJs and I think you\u2019ll be satisfied with the results.<\/p>\n

I brought a mix of soul that included a tip of the hat (via Howard Tate<\/strong>) to the recently departed Jerry Ragovoy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

DJ Hambone brought a grip of serious\u00a0 heat including a bunch of stuff I\u2019d never heard before, and M-Fasis dropped yet another incredibly diverse set, packed (as always<\/em>) with surprises.<\/p>\n

That said, I hope you dig it all, and I\u2019ll be back next week.<\/p>\n
