Greetings all<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

Welcome to the middle of the week here at the Corners.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The track I bring you today is one of those \u2018I know the name but not the song\u2019 numbers.<\/p>\n

Outside of dedicated soulies. Most of you will only know Peaches and Herb<\/strong> via their 1970s hits like \u2018Shake Your Groove Thing\u2019 (R&B #4 1978) and \u2018Reunited\u2019(R&B and Pop #1 1979).<\/p>\n

I wouldn\u2019t discover until many years later, that the duo (with interchangeable Peaches-es<\/em>) had a recording career that went back to the mid-60s.<\/p>\n

Formed in Washington, DC by Herb Fame<\/strong> (nee Feemster<\/strong>) and Francine \u2018Peaches\u2019 Barker<\/strong>, the duo had their first hit with \u2018Let\u2019s Fall In Love\u2019 in 1966.<\/p>\n

The tune I bring you today appeared as the B-side to their 1967 R&B Top 10 hit \u2018For Your Love\u2019, a cover of Ed Townsend\u2019s<\/strong> 1958 hit.<\/p>\n

Though that tune has a late night slow dance\/make out session appel to it, you really need to flip the disc over for a little high octane, Northern Soul dance floor heat.<\/p>\n

\u2018I Need Your Love So Desperately\u2019 is a fast moving, melodic feature with a propulsive horn section and great back and forth between Fame and Barker.<\/p>\n

The duo went on to chart steadily through 1970 (with Marlene Mack<\/strong> replacing Barker in 1968) and then, with Linda Green<\/strong> in the \u2018Peaches\u2019 spot, started up again in 1977.<\/p>\n
