Late last week I got word that Al Johnson<\/strong>, the lead singer of the mighty\u00a0Unifics<\/strong> had passed away at the age of 65.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve featured the Unifics here at Funky16Corners a few different times over the years.<\/p>\n

Formed at Howard University (as Al and the Vikings<\/strong>) \u00a0in Washington, DC, they were one of the finest late 60s soul harmony groups, hitting the R&B Top 40 four different times (Top 10 twice) in 1968 and 1969.<\/p>\n

The track I bring you today, \u2018It\u2019s All Over\u2019 is one of my favorites from their 1968 LP \u201cCourt of Love\u2019 (the title tune was their first, and biggest hit in 1968).<\/p>\n
