Greetings all<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

I hope you\u2019re all digging the mixes this week.<\/p>\n

Those of you that stop by here on the reg know that I am deep into the Hammond thing, with several boxes of 45s (and a grip of LPs) devoted to the sound.<\/p>\n

I am a Hammond nut from way back, but got seriously into collecting the sound after Finewine<\/strong> and Pat James Longo<\/strong> put together the \u2018Vital Organs\u2019<\/strong> comp back at the end of the 90s.<\/p>\n

As has been recounted here before, my man Mr Luther<\/strong> dropped a copy of that very comp on me back in \u201999, and it promptly blew my mind.<\/p>\n

It was the collection that set me out in search of Hammond 45s (especially Toussaint McCall\u2019s<\/strong> \u2018Shimmy\u2019 and Louis Chachere\u2019s<\/strong> \u2018The Hen\u2019 which immediately became favorites), and the digging never stopped. Though I probably don\u2019t search with the same vigor I did in the early days, there are a couple of 45s in this mix that I only managed to get my hands on in the last year.<\/p>\n

That all said, this is a particularly groovy mix, which I have listened to all the way through a number of times since completing it.<\/p>\n

If you dig yourself a nice, gritty organ 45, I think you\u2019ll dig it too.<\/p>\n
