Today\u2019s selection is yet another of the countless chapters in the saga of the mighty JBs.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2018Music for the People\u2019 written by \u201cSweet\u201d Charles Sherrell<\/strong>, and released in 1977 (as the flipside of \u2018Crossover\u2019, actually the backing track of Lyn Collins<\/strong> \u2018We Want To Parrty Parrty Parrty\u2019) is a funky groover in the late-period JBs stylee.<\/p>\n

It has that clockwork James Brown<\/strong> groove to it \u2013 dig the bass and guitar \u2013 and a group vocal running on top of things. Deep in the disco era, it still delivers the funk (especially the reference to \u2018sardine sandwiches\u2019!) even if the production is a tiny bit slick.<\/p>\n

It is still \u2013 as are all JBs records<\/em> \u2013 essential, so go out and get you some.<\/p>\n
