Greetings all.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a crazy one.<\/p>\n

Lloyd Price<\/strong> was of course a New Orleans R&B\/soul star from 1952 when he hit with \u2018Lawdy Miss Clawdy\u2019 on into the mid-1970s (though he has continued to perform into his 80s).<\/p>\n

Over the course of his career Price has released albums and 45s by his band, including the great \u2018This is My Band\u2019 in 1963 (featuring James Booker<\/strong> on organ) and a number of 45s, including today\u2019s selection.<\/p>\n

Price ran the Lloyd Price\u2019s Turntable label for a few years at the end of the 1960s, releasing records by himself, the Coasters, Howard Tate<\/strong> and the Lloyd Price Orchestra<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

What makes today\u2019s selection unusual, is that the label says that it was recorded in Jamaica!<\/p>\n

The record was arranged by Curley Palmer<\/strong>, who had played guitar with the Coasters and the production is credited to Price and Arthur Jenkins<\/strong> (who produced the Coasters 1969 Turntable 45).<\/p>\n

I hve not been able to find any information that indicates how Price and his band ended up in Jamaica, or if it was really his band and not a bunch of Jamaican session musicians.<\/p>\n

The version of the Isley Brothers<\/strong> \u2018It\u2019s Your Thing\u2019 runs at a leisurely yet funky pace, with some groovy electric piano, percussion and horns.<\/p>\n

If anyone can fill in the blanks on this one I would be much obliged.<\/p>\n
