Greetings all.

The Funky16Corners 2019 Allnighter/Pledge Drive continues!

In continuance of shaking things up a little, I’m going to be presenting compilations of the guest mixes that my favorite selectors have brought to the Pledge Drive/Allnighter over the years.

This week we have amazing mixes from another Asbury Park 45 Sessions vet, DJ Bluewater.

Bluewater’s reggae crates run DEEP and he always comes correct.

Dig the Jamaican goodness, and I’ll see you all next week.

A Note on the 2019 Pledge Drive

The focus on using Patreon to raise money to pay the bills around here (paying for server space/bandwidth and broadcast fees) has proven to make a lot of sense, moreso than the previously used Paypal model.

If you dig any of the stuff I do here, any of the radio shows, or the mix archives, or even if you’re one of the few that still read the blog posts, please consider signing up for Patreon and making a small, recurring, monthly donation of a few dollars.

You can click on the link below.

It’s pretty simple, very safe and a great way to keep Funky16Corners up and running for another year.

So thanks in advance, and enjoy the tunes!

Keep the Faith

Larry

_____________________________________________________________

The pledging will continue this year with Patreon (click here or on the logo below to go to the Funky16Corners page) , where you will be able to spread your contributions out over the entire year, which will help cover the ongoing server/broadcast/hardware expenses. This year has seen the move to 100 percent live broadcasting (Mixlr.com/Funky16corners)  and continued hardware and software upgrades at Funky16Corners central, to keep the radio/podcasting experience as seamless and groovy as possible. So please dig deep so we can continue to do the same, and if you’re already a Patreon donor, please accept my heartfelt thanks!

Example

I am also including a Paypal donation button (below) if you’d rather donate in a lump sum instead of the rolling donation in Patreon.

Prestige manages to be both a righteous dude and an all-star DJ, so dig into these mixes and I’ll be back next week with more!

I am also including a Paypal donation button (below) if you’d rather donate in a lump sum instead of the rolling donation in Patreon.

Greetings all.

The mix you see before you is a set I put together back in 2011 for the folks at Amen Brother (unfortunately their site seems to be offline these days).

‘Easy Mover’ is just about an hour of mid-tempo, break-heavy funk and soul, very groovy indeed of I say so myself.

See you next week.

Also, make sure to follow Funky16Corners on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

Greetings all.

This is a re-post of a mix I did for the This Is Funkaholic! Radio Show back in 2015.

‘Give Everybody Some’ is a half hour of tasty, mostly instrumental funk (you can listen to the entire show here) . There are a couple of old faves, some things that have appeared here recently, and some groovy new stuff that’ll make it here in the future.

I thought it’d be cool to post it here for those of you that weren’t able to catch it when it aired.
Until next week

Also, make sure to follow Funky16Corners on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

Greetings all.

Welcome to Part Nine of the Funky16Corners 2017 Allnighter/Pledge Drive aka The Summer of Soul!

Example

This week we have a great selection from my man HeavySoulBrutha Dave B.

Dave is a frequent flier here at the Allnighter, and he always brings the heat.

He hits a lot of my faves in this mix.

First, a few words from HSB:

“BIG THANKS to Larry for asking me to participate in the annual F16C Pledge Drive. ALWAYS very honored! My contribution this year is some of my favorite joints that feature guitar heavy Funk & Soul. Be sure and search out these records if you dig a tune. I’m only highlighting one cut, but most are full of other incredible music you without a doubt need in your ear.

Don’t forget to drop a little donation for the cause while you’re here. This place is truly special and your support is appreciated, not only by Larry, but all of us that come here to discover great music. Peace and SOUL… HSB aka DaveB.”

Dig the sounds, and make sure to click on the Patreon button to help keep the lights on here at Funky16Corners! Fundraising up to this point has not been very encouraging, so please do what you can. It is as always greatly appreciated.

________________________

We will continue with a new mix every week for the duration of the summer, with a selection of stellar contributions yet to come from some of my (and your) favorite selectors including  Tarik Thornton, and a closing mix from yours truly.

The fundraiser will also take a slightly different form this year, moving to Patreon (click here or on the logo below to go to the Funky16Corners page) , where you will be able to spread your contributions out over the entire year (i.e. if you pledge 12 bucks, it doles it out a dollar a month over the course of a year), which will help cover the ongoing server/broadcast/hardware expenses. This year has seen the upgrade of a couple of crucial pieces of equipment, and any help you fine people can provide will keep the machinery moving here at Funky16Corners central.

So please dig deep so we can continue to do the same!

Example

In addition to all the broadcasts and the blogging all of the Funky16Corners and Iron Leg mix archives will continue.

As I have mentioned recently, the changes to the general format here are as thus – The concentration of the operation will continue its shift to podcasting/radio, with the Funky16Corners Radio Show originating every week as a live broadcast, Thursday nights at 9PM Eastern on MIXLR, and will continue to be posted as a downloadable podcast every Friday, and broadcast in the UK on Cruising Radio.

The Iron Leg Radio Show will also move to a monthly live broadcast (day to be determined) also on MIXLR and will continue to be broadcast on Cruising Radio in the UK.

Don’t forget, my weekly radio show for WFMU’s Give the Drummer Radio, Testify! is on the air live, every Wednesday night from 10-12. If you dig Funky16Corners and/or Iron Leg I think you’ll dig it. So tune in when you get a chance!

Greetings all.

Welcome to Part Seven of the Funky16Corners 2017 Allnighter/Pledge Drive aka The Summer of Soul!

Example

This week we have a great selection from Ben Gibson of the Hit, Git & Split and the South London Soul Train.

Ben is one of the hottest funk/soul selectors in the UK and burns it up on the reg in two excellent club nights. He has excellent and eclectic taste, which you can see in is playlist.

A few word from Ben:

“As always it’s an absolute huge pleasure to be again involved with The Funky16Corners annual Allnighter / Pledge Drive!

I’m sure you’ll agree with me that without people like Larry Grogan constantly sharing not only his amazing collection but also his passion and wealth of knowledge, this scene wouldn’t be as thriving as it at the moment, so be sure to drop a few in the virtual F16C bucket!

This year I’ve put together for you just shy of 50 minutes of some of the records that have been doing the business both at home and at some of the nights I’ve been DJing at recently.

Enjoy!”
