Greetings all.
Not a whole lot to add with today’s post, aside from the fact that Part three of the mix includes some real winners from Philadelphia, including an early 45 by the Intruders that hasn’t appeared in this space before in any form.
I should mention that I will be returning to Spindletop @ Botanica for some more record spinning on Monday March 21st, so if you’re in the area, stop by.
I also have a grip of groovy stuff all teed up for next week, and of course there’s the Funky16Corners Radio Show this Friday night at 9PM, so you might want to pencil that in as well.
I’ll be back tomorrow with the fourth and final installment of this live mix.
See you then.
Peace
Larry

PS Head over to Iron Leg for an unusual cover of one of the greatest records of the 60s.

Fantastic sets Larry! Some absolute gems in there – my faves would have to be Barbara Banks and Mary Wells – top stompers best dealt with at full volume on a sweaty dancefloor with plenty of talcum powder to keep the feet spinning….
Next time you have a northern night, try out Marshall and the Chi-Lites “Love Bandit”….that’ll get the crowd out of their seats! Big thanks for all the posts 🙂
Gail
Thanks Gail!
I first heard the Barbara banks years ago when I picked up a Keb Darge comp (for the funk) and was blown away by the Northern stuff, including Banks and Pat Lewis ‘No One To Love’. It took me a couple of years (and a hunk of cash) to get the Banks but it’s one of my all time faves.
The Mary Wells is unbelievable.
